WORLD CLEAN UP DAY 2026
World Clean Up Day is a global social action project partnered with (UNESCO) day aiming to cleaning up solid waste around the globe. Here is what BF is doing and how clubs can get involved.
As part of the BF Environmental Strategy, which you can read on the ‘Green Piste,’ BF’s Environmental Sustainability webpage. Members are encouraged to take part in various sustainability initiatives throughout the year.
This year World Clean Up Day falls on 20th September. Clubs and members are encouraged to get involved on this day.

How BF Got Involved
At the Cadet and Junior National Championships in Nottingham on the 12th and 13th September, BF organised the ‘Big Clean Up Weekend.’
As part of this, BF ran a kit donation stand, allowing competitors to safely dispose of old kit without damaging the environment, whilst any donated kit that was deemed unsafe was taken away and recycled or sent to refurbishment at Leon Paul.
At the end of both days at the competition, BF staff and volunteers took part in litter picking around the venue in order to dispose of any waste including food packaging and non-reusable plastic bottles.

How BF Members Can Get Involved
BF appreciates that clubs and members may not have the resources to get involved with every scheme, but even small actions will make a big difference.
Some ideas for World Clean Up Day include:
- Cleaning up the area surrounding your training centre.
- Volunteering at a school or local organisation.
- Doing a litter pick in your area wearing your fencing kit for a great photo opportunity.
BF will promote and share your pictures. Send them to media@britishfencing.com or tag @britishfencing and @WorldCleanUpDay on social media.
