BF BIG CLEAN UP WEEKEND
As part of World Clean Up Day 2026, ‘The BF Big Clean Up Weekend’ will take place on the 12th and 13th of September during Cadet and Junior National Championships 2026.
World Clean Up Day is a global social action project partnered with the United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) day aiming to cleaning up solid waste around the globe.
Organisations across the world create events in the lead up to and on the day. This year, World Clean Up Day falls on 20th September. BF is running a Big Clean Up Weekend to encourage participation in the initiative and raise awareness of the BF Environmental Strategy, recently published on the Green Piste, BFs environmental sustainability website zone.
Throughout the weekend BF will be chatting about environmental sustainability, litter picking, reducing single use plastic waste and will be running the surplus fencing kit donation scheme at the Environmental Sustainability Stand. Members attending over the weekend are encouraged to donate any old and any surplus fencing kit.
How To Get Involved
BF appreciates that clubs and members may not have the resources to get involved with every scheme but even small actions will make a big difference.
Whether you decide to join in at the event in Nottingham, run an event at your club or clean up the local area in your own community, clubs and members are encouraged to get involved in the initiative.
You could join in this weekend or anytime leading up to the day. Joining in is a great way to connect your club to the community, bring your club together and make a difference in your local area.
Some ideas:
Could you clean up the area surrounding your training centre?
Volunteer at a school or local organisation.
Do a litter pick in your area wearing your fencing kit for a great photo opportunity.
BF will promote and share your pictures. Send them into media@britishfencing.com or tag @britishfencing and @WorldCleanUpDay on social media.
