NEW SAFE TOUCH GUIDANCE NOTE

BF have published a new Guidance Note around Safe Touch in fencing.

Safe Touch is designed to protect everyone in the sport of fencing., and creates a framework for every one involved in the sport

The purpose of this document is to ensure that all physical contact in fencing is appropriate, safe, and necessary, protecting fencers from harm while supporting effective coaching and performance.  It follows the principle that any touch should only take place if it is:

• Appropriate
• Necessary
• Consensual
• Respectful
• Open and observable

It also reminds people about how to report any concerns that they may have about any one’s behaviour or actions.
