CONSULTATION OPEN: U18 ATHLETE RECRUITMENT POLICY AND GUIDANCE

BF is inviting members of the fencing community to take part in a consultation on the proposed U18 Athlete Recruitment Policy and accompanying guidance.

The draft U18 Athlete Recruitment Policy has been developed to provide greater clarity around the recruitment of athletes under 18 and to support ethical, transparent and professional relationships between athletes, parents, coaches and clubs. At its heart is a clear principle: athletes and their parents or guardians have the right to choose where, and with whom, they train.

Alongside the Policy, the accompanying guidance provides practical information to help the fencing community navigate changes of club or coach positively and professionally, while keeping the young person’s welfare and development at the centre of the process.

BF is now seeking consultation from athletes, parents, coaches, clubs, officials and other members of the fencing community before the documents are finalised.

We particularly welcome views on whether the documents are clear, proportionate and practical, and whether there are any unintended consequences that should be considered.

Please read both draft documents and submit your consultation response using the form below.
