SEPT 2026: REFEREE REGISTER SYSTEM MOVING TO SPORT:80

The Referees Register is moving to a new Sport:80-powered system. Referees are encouraged to update their existing Sport:80 records and create a Referee Profile ensuring all their information appears correctly when the existing register is retired at the end of the 30-day transition period.

BF will soon move the Referees Register to a new system that pulls information directly from Sport:80.

The new register is already available through the Sport:80 Referee Register and will run alongside the existing register for 30 days until the current register is retired.

The current register relies on manual updates, which can sometimes result in delays or inaccuracies when information is added or amended. By drawing information directly from Sport:80, the new system will provide a more accurate, efficient and sustainable way of maintaining referee records.

To ensure your information appears correctly on the new register, please check that your Sport:80 account includes:

  • A current BF membership.
  • A refereeing certificate uploaded to your Sport:80 profile.
  • A Referee Profile created within Sport:80.

Information displayed on the register

The new Referees Register will display:

  • The date your qualification was issued.
  • The type of qualification held.
  • The weapon(s) covered by your qualification.
  • Any additional information you choose to provide for event organisers.

Creating a Referee Profile

If you have not yet created a Referee Profile, follow the steps below or watch the Sport:80 Referee Profile set-up video.

  1. Log in to your Sport:80 account.
  2. Select View Profile.
  3. Choose Coach & Official Profiles.
  4. Select Add a Profile.
  5. Select Referee Profile.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

When you reach the Locator Settings page, select Yes if you would like to be discoverable through the new referee search system.

You will also have the opportunity to include additional information that may be useful to competition organisers, such as your availability, experience, location, travel preferences or other relevant details.

Important for referees under the age of 18: BF strongly recommends that referees under 18 do not create a publicly visible profile. If you choose to make your profile visible, you must clearly state in the Additional Information section that you are under 18.

Uploading Referee Qualifications

BF is aware that some referees may not currently have a qualification certificate uploaded to Sport:80, particularly where qualifications were obtained before digital certificates were issued or before electronic record-keeping systems were introduced.

If you have a copy of your certificate, please upload a clear image or PDF to your Sport:80 account. Guidance is available in the Sport:80 certificate upload tutorial.

If you do not have a certificate but are listed on the current register, please contact the Workforce team and include the date or year your qualification was issued. BF will review available records and where possible locate the original qualification record or create a replacement certificate.
