REMINDER ON GBR TEAM ENTRY PROCEDURES

A reminder to the community on correct GBR team entry processes for international events.

BF would like to remind athletes, parents, coaches & clubs that only BF is authorised to enter GBR teams into any EFC or FIE international competition, including EFC U14 team events.

A recent incident where teams were entered into the EFC portal without BF approval prompted a review of procedures, along with an update to our published charges & fines guidance, reflecting the financial and administrative risks caused by unofficial entries.

To ensure clarity for everyone supporting GBR athletes, please do not:

  • Enter GBR teams directly via organisers or the EFC/FIE
  • Coordinate team entries through private or informal arrangements
  • Ask another individual to submit entries on behalf of GBR

Unauthorised entries may expose BF to unintended liabilities, including fines for unapproved registrations or referee obligations, and they disrupt established selection processes designed to support fairness for all athletes.

What to do instead

  • All GBR team entries must be processed exclusively by BF.
  • Any enquiries should be directed to gbr_support@britishfencing.com.
  • Parents & coaches are encouraged to contact BF rather than attempting to resolve perceived process gaps independently.
