REMINDER: 800N KIT REQUIRED FOR EFC U14 EVENTS

A reminder that FIE‑level protective equipment remains mandatory for all EFC U14 competitions.

BF is issuing a reminder to parents, coaches & clubs that 800N (FIE‑level) jackets, breeches, plastrons and 1600N masks are compulsory for all EFC U14 competitions this season. These requirements were introduced in June 2025 and apply to every athlete competing in EFC U14 international events.

Some organisers have not consistently included this information in their event invitations, which has resulted in young fencers arriving with 350N kit and facing the possibility of not being able to compete. While a small number of events have been flexible, others have fully enforced the rule and have not allowed non‑compliant kit.

To ensure fencers can take part safely and confidently, all U14 athletes must attend with full FIE‑level protective equipment. As many international venues do not offer on‑site equipment stalls, families should check kit well in advance to avoid the risk of withdrawal on the day.

Parents, clubs and coaches are strongly encouraged to read the age‑specific GBR Zone guidance, which provides full details of U14 equipment standards and expectations. The following pages contain all relevant information:

These reminders are issued to support safe participation and help prevent young fencers from being turned away from international events due to non‑compliant kit.
