NEW SAFETY ZONE ON BF WEBSITE

The new BF Safety Zone includes guides to equipment for different activities, the requirements for CE/CEN/FIE markings and guides for individual equipment.
Why is there a new Safety Zone?
Fencing is one of the safest sports, thanks to the regulations in place around safety, equipment and accident reporting. Every fencer is responsible for ensuring that their personal equipment is in a safe condition (cf. Rules for Competitions t.20.1).
The newly launched BF Safety Zone aims to assist members and clubs in implementing BF’s Safety Guidelines.
What information is in the Safety Zone?
In the zone you will find:
- The BF Safety Guidelines
- Equipment by Activity – what you need to use and when
- CE, CEN and FIE Markings – what they mean, and how to recognise them
The new zone will provide further safety information regarding safety checks, equipment fitting guides and guides on CE/CEN markings in the sections for:
Who publishes Safety Information?
The BF Safety Committee. The Safety Committee is a BF Standing Committee and they align with the general BF committee Terms of Reference as well as a specific Safety Committee Terms of Reference.
The outputs:
- advise Board on all aspects of safety, both routine and urgent;
- monitor, review and as needed update the BF Safety guidelines and regulations, and promote them;
- circulate advice and instructions to clubs, coaches, etc, via BF HQ (by agreement with Executive) and deal with all queries
How can I ask a question or give feedback on the Safety Guidelines or Safety Zone?
To assist in the third output listed above: dealing with queries, the new Safety Zone also includes a form that members can complete if they require clarification on the BF Safety Guidelines, or have any feedback or suggestions for the Safety Zone.
