After winning three of her four poule fights, Moore faced France’s Cecile Demaude as her first opponent in the tableau of 16. She sailed through with a 15-1 victory, before moving on to defeat Alesia Makrytskaya (NPA) 15-13 with a strong performance.

Moore met Italy’s Ionela Andreea Mogos in the semi-final, who put a stop to her podium journey. Mogos went on to claim the European title and Moore secured a bronze medal, bringing GBR’s medal tally to four.

On the same day, GBR teammate Dimitri Coutya claimed his fourth European title in the Men’s Epee B.

The championships continue in Cardiff with further individual and team events still to come.

Justine commented afterwards:

“I’m super happy with how I performed today. I’d been training well and I’m just so proud of myself today.

“I just thought I had to stay focused, stay on the game and keep very calm.

“I tried to keep my nerves down and just focus, and it went in my favour, which was great.”
