The Para Fencing European Championships take place this week in Cardiff, from 6th to 11th October. Follow the action and find results, photos, and event information here.
The Cardiff 2026 Para Fencing European Championships are taking place between the 6th and 11th October at the Sport Wales National Centre, Wales. This is the first qualifying event in the journey to the LA28 Paralympic Games, the qualification window for which opened on 1st October this year. A description of the pathway, ‘The Way to LA’, is described in full by World Para Fencing here.
This is the first time the Para Fencing European Championships have taken place in Cardiff. World Abilitysport awarded the hosting of the 2026 Para Fencing European Championships in Cardiff, Wales, to British Fencing (BF), in partnership with UK Sport, supported by funding from The National Lottery and the Welsh Government, following BF’s successful hosting of the World Cup event in the city in 2024.
15 countries and 132 athletes, plus hundreds of spectators and volunteers, are set to create a memorable event in the Para Fencing calendar, supporting Visit Wales’ official message of Wales as a global destination for sport, culture, and tourism.
For GBR, this is the largest squad ever competing at a Para Fencing European Championships. While many members are seasoned veterans, others are competing at their first ever major championships.
