DEU EVENT CHANGES TO GB CUP RANKING EVENT - SEPT 2026

Following the closure of the Ratings Pilot programme, the DEU Event – Epee will now become the first GB Cup Ranking Event, hosted alongside the Cadet and Junior National Championships in Nottingham. More info about eligibility below.

The DEU Event – Epee, announced in July and due to take place on 12th September 2026 alongside the Cadet & Junior National Championships, has now been changed to the first GB Cup Ranking Event.

This change follows the recent announcement of the Ratings scheme’s closure and the launch of the GB Cup Rankings Event.

The GB Cup Ranking Event – Epee will contribute to the new GB Cup Rankings, which are designed to recognise performance while creating meaningful competition opportunities for athletes working towards higher levels of competition, as well as those who simply enjoy competing regularly. For the first time, results from GB Cup Ranking Events will contribute to the main BF Senior Rankings.

The GB Cup Ranking Event – Epee in Nottingham will now be open to fencers holding a C rating or below (NIF 3 or below), giving more fencers the opportunity to compete.

Ratings are calculated based on the Senior Rankings. Each fencer included in the BF rankings is already assigned a performance indicator, called a NIF value, a numeric value assigned to an individual to indicate their relative strength within the rankings. See the table below:
