At recent Senior Foil World Cups in Istanbul and Shanghai, Jaimie Cook and David Sosnov achieved a brilliant top eight finish, respectively.

The FIE Senior Foil World Cup in Istanbul, Turkey, took place between the 30th April and 3rd May 2026. More recently on 15th-17th May, another Senior Foil World Cup took place in Shanghai, China. In Istanbul, Jaimie won all of his poule fights to secure his place on day two. Seeded 24th, his fight direct elimination fight was against Bastian Kappus (GER) in the tableau of 64. After defeating Kappus 15-13, he faced strong competition from Egypt’s Abdelrahman Tolba in the last 32. With a strong and confident performance, Jaimie defeated him 15-13, earning a place in the last 16. There, he faced Iskander Bulatov (AIN) and defeated him 15-10. Jaimie’s path to the podium was cut short by Italy’s Giuseppe Franzoni in the quaterfinal – where he was defeated 11-15 – earning him an excellent seventh place finish from a field of 261.

His next opponent was Kyosuke Matsuyama (JPN), and after a 15-11 win, David went on to face Kirill Borodachev (AIN) but was defeated 15-9. David’s brilliant fencing throughout the World Cup resulted in him finishing seventh out of a field of 233.
