COACH ENGAGEMENT AT BRADFORD SWORD IN HAND CPD DAY

24 coaches from across the country came together in Bradford to share learning and experiences at the BF Sword in Hand Continuous Professional Development (CPD) day.

Despite the heat, 24 coaches from across Yorkshire, the North East and beyond attended a BF Sword in Hand CPD day. The event was expertly facilitated by Fencing Development Team members, Beth Cranston-Selby and Ev Van Gemeren.

The day allowed coaches to shape the agenda and help to prepare potential candidates for an upcoming Introduction to Coaching Fencing (ITCF) event in Bradford in August.

Out of the 24 coaches attending, ten were female and twelve came from the local Muslim Girls Fence programme.

For Nalette Tucker, who leads the programme in Bradford, this was a first chance to meet fellow coaches from across Yorkshire and the North East and to discuss ways of working together moving forwards.

BF’s Head of Coaching & Workforce, Chris Turner, commented:

“We know from feedback last year, how impactful the Sword in Hand CPD days are for coach learning through a safe and supportive environment and coaches being able to get support on the areas that matter to them.

“My sincere thanks to all the coaches that turned up, Ev and Beth for their facilitation and Nalette for hosting. This is a great example of partnership work whereby BF’s Social Impact work is having a positive impact on the wider fencing eco-system and in turn the fencing eco-system impacting positively on our social impact work. I look forward to seeing the partnership continue and strengthen.”
