2026 CADET & JUNIOR NATIONALS WEEKEND: EVENT INFO

Information for the Cadet & Junior Nationals weekend, including a university open day on Saturday, new digital check-in, weapons control, lift maintenance, trophies, and a new parking system at the university.

NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY OPEN DAY

A reminder that there is an open day on Saturday 12th September, meaning that it will be busier on site. Please allow extra time to get to the venue and park.

NEW CHECK-IN SYSTEM:

We are now doing check in for all events via our check in desk. Please ensure you are checked in before the closing time.

We will be introducing a new way of registering attendance using your digital membership card.

Before your next visit, please download your membership card from your Sport:80 account and add it to your phone’s wallet. When you arrive, simply have the card ready on your phone and we’ll scan it to check you in.

How to download your membership card:

  1. Log in to your Sport:80 account.
  2. Open your profile and navigate to your membership details.
  3. Select your current membership.
  4. Tap View Membership Card.
  5. Choose Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet, depending on your device.

If you don’t want to add it to your wallet, you can still access the membership card through your Sport80 account but adding it to your wallet will make check-in much quicker and easier.

Please make sure you have your membership card available before arriving. During this pilot, we’ll be using the QR code on the card to scan you in.

If you don’t have access to Apple or Google Wallet, please come with your membership number to the information desk and we will check you in manually.

WEAPONS CONTROL:

Please note that the weapons control is not intended to act as a full safety check. The primary purpose of the check is to ensure equipment meets the conductivity requirements, i.e. scoring hits are registered. However, equipment may still fail due to safety reasons. Weapons control will be in place for the Cadet & Junior National Championships foil and sabre events. It will not be in place for the U14 A BRC and GB Cup Ranking Event.

It remains the fencer’s responsibility to ensure that personal fencing kit meets safety standards.

Weapons Control Opening Times:

  • Friday 11th September 2026 – 18:00 – 20:00
  • Saturday 12th September 2026 – 07:45 – 12:30
  • Sunday 13th September 2026 – 07:45 – 13:00

LIFT MAINTENANCE:

From Nottingham University:

The refurbishment will take place from Monday 3 August until Friday 25 September 2026. During this period, the lift will be out of service while essential works are completed.

We appreciate that this temporary closure may affect some customers, as well as the delivery of certain activities and events taking place at David Ross Sports Village. Our team is working closely with event organisers, clubs and facility users to minimise disruption wherever possible, and any necessary changes will be communicated in advance.

To help maintain accessibility throughout the refurbishment, the University has invested in two stair climbers. These devices enable trained staff to safely assist customers up and down the stairs when required and can also be used during emergency evacuations.

TROPHIES:

Those who have a trophy from the 2025 Championships need to bring it to the event. If they are not attending, it must still be returned ready for the medal ceremonies over the weekend. Please contact events@britishfencing.com if there are challenges with this. You can also return it via Leon Paul, at the latest Thursday 10th September by 5pm.

At the venue, please give them to the check-in/accreditation desk, where a member of BF staff or volunteer will receive it.

PARKING:

From Nottingham University:

From Monday 3 August, 24/7 parking charges will apply to all vehicles parking on University of Nottingham campuses at University Park, Jubilee and Sutton Bonington.

Fixed automated number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras will capture all vehicles as they enter and exit campus and use this information to identify anyone that does not have a valid parking session.
