The Board reminds members that for good governance purposes, it is essential to maintain a diverse Board of Directors that is representative of the BF membership. Following the expiry of the current directors’ terms, females, disabled people and ethnic minorities will be under-represented on the Board. Only one candidate is from an under represented group.
The Board must ensure that it has a broad range of skills and attributes that collectively support the delivery of British Fencing’s vision, mission, and objectives. The Board sought to enhance its collective experience and expertise by encouraging candidates with current qualifications and relevant practice experience in the following areas to stand:
- Delivery/Oversight of World Class Performance Programmes in Paralympic Sport
- Private sector fundraising/commercial activities to support British Fencing strategic priorities
- Sport/activity procurement in the education sector (primary/secondary)
- HR
In accordance with Bye Law VI.4(a)(i), the Nominations Committee has produced the following statement – ‘ Based on the information contained in the candidate nomination forms, all candidates at least partially meet one element of the requested skillset’
