12TH SEPTEMBER 2026: WORLD FENCING DAY

Fencers around the world are celebrating World Fencing Day on Saturday 12th September 2026. Here are some ways you and your club can get involved!

The FIE 2026 World Fencing Day theme is “Once a Fencer, Always a Fencer”.

Whether you are young or old, competing at the highest level or fencing at your local club, actively involved today or haven’t picked up a weapon in years, you remain connected to the fencing community.

World Fencing Day 2026 will celebrate that sense of belonging. The people, friendships, experiences, values, and memories that connect the global fencing family.

The campaign will put real people and their stories at its heart, creating opportunities for everyone in fencing to see themselves represented and participate, wherever they are in their fencing journey.

BF campaign:

To celebrate the day, BF is working on a video compilation of different members of our community saying “Happy World Fencing Day” to the camera. To get involved, please upload a short video clip in portrait to this link. The deadline to send any clips is 12th September at 3pm, and the video will be shared on our platforms on the day.

FIE campaign:

The FIE is launching a social media campaign on Instagram. Each member of the fencing community is invited to show their connection to fencing through short-form video and photo content before, during, and after World Fencing Day on 12th September.

How it works:

Participation is open to all using a simple challenge format:

  • Create: Produce a short video capturing your unique take on the “Once  Fencer, Always a Fencer” theme. Content can range from “then and now” transformations to multi-generational family showcases.* The only limit is your imagination, so get creative!
  • Post: Post the video to Instagram, tag and invite @fencing_fie as a co-collaborator. Don’t forget to include the official hashtag #WorldFencingDay2026
  • Share: The FIE will review submissions and accept the strongest, most creative entries to feature directly on the official FIE Instagram channel.

Submissions accepted until: Sunday 20th September 2026, 23:59 CEST.

Win: The official collaboration post with the highest number of views will claim the grand prize*, alongside special recognition for standout creative entries.

*prize to be announced soon.
