BRONZE MEDAL FOR COLLIS AT CARDIFF 2026 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Gemma Collis claimed a bronze medal in the Women’s Epee A on the fourth day of the Cardiff 2026 European Championships, bringing the GBR medal tally to six.
9th October 2026 – GBR at a glance:
- Individual Women’s Epee A: Bronze
- Individual Men’s Sabre B: Gold
Medal tally: 4 bronze, 2 gold

Due to her world ranking, Gemma Collis went straight into the direct elimination round of the competition seeded first. In the tableau of 16, she met fellow GBR member Emily Holder. After defeating Holder 15-5, she went on to face Ukraine’s Mariia Ivanchyk and beat her 15-10 in a confident performance.

Having secured a medal, Collis faced Spain’s Judith Rodriguez Menendez. Both fencers fought a close and patient battle, taking the fight to 6-6 with a priority minute. Rodriguez Menendez scored the final point and Collis took bronze. Rodriguez Mendendez would herself go on to take silver, being defeated by Yevheniia Breus.
On the same day, GBR athlete Dimitri Coutya secured his second European title following his epee gold on day two, this time in the men’s sabre. These combined achievements bring GBR’s medal tally to four bronze and two gold medals at the European Championships.
