Heart of England Foil

'Heart of England Youth Foil' aims is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all fencers including those competing for the first time.

We are at a new larger venue so our team will ensure the event runs to time with less waiting time than at our previous event. We will also have plenty of space for supporters.

We want this competition to be a fantastic experience and welcome any feedback during or after the event. We reviewed all feedback from previous events and use them to make changes where appropriate. We will be sending out a post event questionnaire which we would really encourage you all to complete.

We will have volunteers visible during the day so please feel free to come and chat with us.

We really look forward to welcoming you on the day!

Entries close midnight on Tuesday before the event. Late entries are available at the organisers discretion until midnight Friday.

NEW CHECK-IN PROCEDURE

We will be using a new check-in procedure at our event. You will need your smart phone to check-in. You can find more details HERE.

Check-in closes.

Welfare Officer

The event welfare officer for this event is Mark Cloke and he will be visible during the day. If you cannot find him, he can be contacted on 07748 623010.

Inexperienced Competitors

For the less experienced fencers, we will ensure they are supported during the event by someone from our team. Our event welfare officer will also be on hand to make them feel welcome. Let us know if it is your first event.

Cafe

There is a cafe open all day so you can grab refreshment on arrival.

Leon Paul & Armoury

Leon Paul will be on site during the day so you can pickup any new items you need. If there is anything you know in advance you are interested in purchasing, please let LP know so they can ensure they bring appropriate items. lpjs@leonpaul.com.

We will also have an armoury team ready to deal with any issues.

Equipment

We will be following British fencing guidelines for equipment requirements: https://www.britishfencing.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/2023-Safety-Guidelines-v20-March.pdf

Format

Cadets and U14s will have 1 round of poules. For other events we will try to run 2 rounds of poules, but we reserve the right to reduce to one if circumstances dictate. The first poule will seed the second poule. There will be no 'cut', or elimination and all fencers will proceed to Direct Elimination (DE). Seeding for the DE will be based on the combined results from both rounds of poules.

Live Results

Live results will be published on FencingTimeLive.

Photography & Video Streaming

We will have an official photographer taking photos during the day which will be available post competition. We plan to live stream the 'Finals Piste' to our new YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/@HeartOfEnglandFencing). We also aim to have edited version of the stream available within a few days of the finals. Signs will be visible to show where videoing will be present, and the 'Finals Piste' will be positioned so that only the fencers are included. If you or your fencer do not wish to be included in any videos or photographs, please make the event welfare officer aware at check-in.

Smoking & Vaping

The venue is a no smoking or vaping site. Anyone wishing to smoke or vape will need to leave the site (car parks included).
