IMPORTANT!

We will be introducing a new way of registering attendance using your digital membership card.

Before your next visit, please download your membership card from your Sport80 account and add it to your phone’s wallet. When you arrive, simply have the card ready on your phone and we’ll scan it to check you in.

How to download your membership card

  1. Log in to your Sport80 account.
  2. Open your profile and navigate to your membership details.
  3. Select your current membership.
  4. Tap View Membership Card.
  5. Choose Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet, depending on your device.

If you don’t want to add it to your wallet, you can still access the membership card through your Sport80 account but adding it to your wallet will make check-in much quicker and easier.

Please make sure you have your membership card available before arriving. During this pilot, we’ll be using the QR code on the card to scan you in.

If you have any trouble accessing your Sport80 account or downloading your membership card, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for your support as we trial this new check-in process. We’re looking forward to seeing how it improves the experience for everyone.

Athletes who have previously held an FIE license for a country other than Great Britain, and do not currently hold an FIE license issued for GBR should contact us for further eligibility information.

Eligibility for the Cadet British Championships will be as above, however, if a fencer holds an EFC licence for another country they may still compete at the British Championships as long as they are eligible by nationality.

Entry Fee Support Scheme

BF is mindful of the rising costs of attending fencing events and the potential barrier to participation this creates for some members of our community. As a result, BF is offering a limited number of free entries. These will be offered based on financial need, not on ability.  This scheme will cover 100% of the entry fee cost.

Applications must be completed per athlete. For multiple athletes from one household, please complete separate application forms.

EVENT ENTRY SUPPORT SCHEME FORM

Application deadline: 5th August 2026, 5pm

You will hear back by 7th August 2026.

Equipment

Equipment: All fencers must wear the correct kit as per British Fencing rules. This will include FIE chest protectors (m.25 4(c) ) and 800N sabre gloves (as per the rule at https://www.britishfencing.com/urgent-safety-notice-sabre-gloves/).

Referee Provision

Clubs are required to provide a referee based on the number of Fencers they enter

  • 1-4 fencers – no referee
  • 5-9 fencers – 1 referee
  • 10+ fencers – 2 referees

Note that this quota is based on per weapon per day. For example, a club entering four fencers into Mixed/Men’s Epee and four into Women’s Foil is not required to provide a referee; however, if a club is entering five fencers into Mixed/Men’s Epee and three into Women’s Foil, the club will be required to provide one referee. This will be across Cadet events and Junior events, e.g. if you have five entering Cadet Men’s Epee and five entering Junior Men’s Epee, you will need to provide one referee for each of these events.

Referee provisions do not apply to the GB Cup Ranking Event – Epee and the U14 BRC A – Epee & Sabre.

BF wants to work with clubs, where they are required to provide referees in accordance with their club entries, in a collaborative manner.

Please note, BF has already invited referees from our Referee Pathway Programme; therefore, these referees cannot be used by clubs. To see the Pathway Programme Referee Register, please click the link here.

If you are struggling to find a referee, BF can help. Please email development@britishfencing.com with the referee request, and we will add it to our mailing list and WhatsApp groups. Please get in touch before the deadline below.

Where clubs are required to provide a referee(s), they must inform BF of their referee name by Monday 2nd September 2026.

Where accommodation is required, BF is able to offer clubs a rate for accommodation costs, if there is availability, in which club-provided referees can stay in the official BF hotel. Please get in touch with events@britishfencing.com as soon as possible to discuss this.

BF is not looking to fine clubs, but will fine £250 in the following circumstances:

  • A club does not engage or respond to BFs communications and fails to provide referees.
  • A club agrees to provide support (referee or other agreed support) following a conversation with BF and then fails to do so (excluding force majeure reasons).

Video Refereeing

We anticipate that video replay will be available for all finals.

Media, Video and Photography

Media:  Please note there will be filming and photography at this event for BF purposes. If you do not give photography/filming permission for yourself or your athlete, please contact eventsadmin@britishfencing.com before the event.

Photography Policy:  Photography and video using smartphones for personal use only (including coaching and social media) is permitted.

Accreditation

Coach Accreditation

There is a separate process for coaches based outside the UK who are supporting athletes representing GBR at domestic events. Please contact development@britishfencing.com for further information.

Before You Begin

To be eligible for accreditation, you must:

What Coach Accreditation provides:

  • Access to warm‑up and piste areas.
  • The ability to provide warm‑up lessons.
  • Access to the Field of Play (FoP) during Direct Elimination and Team Matches (where applicable).

Accreditation does not grant:

  • Access to the Field of Play during poules.
  • Access to the referees’ room, media areas, or the event organisers’ office (unless specifically invited).

Coaches must leave the Field of Play once bouts have concluded.

Your accreditation lanyard must be visible at all times. Event staff must be able to see it clearly.

In the event of a breach of BF’s Code of Conduct, accreditation may be revoked and any GBR Coach Licences may be suspended.

Apply for Coach Accreditation here

The deadline to apply is Thursday 10th September, 12pm.

Media Accreditation

Anyone wishing to take photographs using professional or semi-professional camera equipment must apply in advance. This includes:

  • Cameras with detachable lenses
  • The use of tripods or monopods

Media accreditation is for still photography only. Professional or semi‑professional video equipment is not permitted at this event.

If you require media accreditation, please complete this application form ahead of the event. Accreditation will not be issued during the event.

All accredited individuals at the event must follow the instructions of the event staff.

Accreditation lanyards and passes must be collected from the event desk. You are not required to return your lanyard as these are event-specific.

Apply for Media Accreditation here

The deadline to apply is Wednesday 26th August, 5pm.

Medical Accreditation

This process does not provide access to the Field of Play unless you are required for medical support. You will be issued with a lanyard so referees can recognise that you are supporting an athlete, should you be invited inside the Field of Play during a medical event. Floor staff and medical teams will also be able to identify that you are supporting a fencer with a medical condition.

To apply, you must:

  • Hold a BF Supporter Membership.
  • Ensure the athlete’s medical information is registered on the Sport:80 membership platform.
  • Be available to provide information to the onsite medical and safeguarding event team.
  • Be over 18 years old.

The deadline to apply is Friday 11th September, 12pm.

  • Sabre glove
  • Sabre lame
  • Sabre mask
  • For Foil and Epee, masks, gloves, weights and gauges will be checked on the piste by referees.
